Lahaina is Maui's historic heart — a compact waterfront town that served as the capital of the Hawaiian Kingdom in the early 19th century and later became the center of the Pacific whaling industry. Today it's a vibrant mix of art galleries, restaurants, surf shops, and cultural landmarks. The famous Banyan Tree at the center of town — planted in 1873 — sprawls across nearly an entire acre and remains one of Hawaii's most photographed living monuments. Ka'anapali Beach, just north of Lahaina, is a 3-mile stretch of white sand backed by a continuous row of luxury hotels and condominiums. The Sheraton, Hyatt Regency, Ka'anapali Beach Hotel, and Westin are all walkable from the beach itself. Black Rock (Pu'u Keka'a), at the north end of the beach, is one of Maui's premier snorkeling spots and offers spectacular cliff-diving at sunset.

From Kahului Airport the drive to Ka'anapali takes approximately 45–60 minutes via the Honoapiilani Highway (Hwy 30), which winds along the dramatic pali cliffs above the ocean on the North Shore before descending into Lahaina. The coastal scenery is spectacular — on clear days you'll see Moloka'i, Lana'i, and Kaho'olawe across the channel. Construction and single-lane sections near Olowalu occasionally slow traffic; afternoon hours heading west can be congested. Our drivers factor this into all departure pickup times.
