Kihei stretches nearly 7 miles along South Maui's coast, offering some of the island's best weather and an impressive lineup of condos, restaurants, and beach parks. Unlike the more resort-heavy Wailea just to the south, Kihei has a relaxed, local feel — think beach cruisers, plate lunches, and some of Maui's best snorkeling right off the shore at Kamaole Beach Parks I, II, and III. Maalaea sits at the northern edge of the isthmus that connects the two sides of Maui. It's home to Maui Ocean Center — Hawaii's largest aquarium — and a small-boat harbor popular with whale-watching and snorkel tours. Because Maalaea is at the narrow waist of the island, it is famously windy; conditions there regularly produce some of the world's fastest ridable waves, attracting surfers from around the globe.

From Kahului Airport the drive south to Kihei typically takes 20 to 35 minutes, depending on time of day. Your shuttle heads south on Mokulele Highway (Hwy 311) through open sugar-cane fields with Haleakalā filling the skyline ahead. Near the coast, the landscape shifts to dryer kiawe scrubland before the highway meets South Kihei Road and the Pacific comes into full view. Traffic can slow near Azeka Shopping Center during morning and evening rush hours, but our drivers time pickups accordingly.
